Double D.A.R.E - Drug and Alcohol Responsibility Education

My friend and i were discussing the horrible way in which DARE "prevents" drug and alcohol use/abuse. I know many people who have been forced to take the mandatory DARE class in school who have still ended up trying, using, or abusing drugs. DARE has not moved in the right direction to prevent drug/alcohol abuse. Instead it has attempted to scare it's audiences by explaining all bad outcomes of drugs. If you do drugs, you will be arrested and sentenced to jail...If you do drugs, you will ruin your family members' lives and those who care about you...If you do drugs, you will become completely unmotivated to succeed in life...While it is true that the abuse of alcohol and drugs can lead to undesireable consequences, the possiblity still exists that people can use drugs responsibly and not experience such consequences. 1) I propose that double DARE teaches children the difference about use and abuse. I'm not only talking about OTC drugs. It seemed like when anyone tried marijuana, it was automatically abuse and not use. Yet with OTC drugs, one could follow the directions on the bottle and be USING the drug. If they deviated from the directions listed, then they were abusing the drug. Marijuana can be the same legal or not. Since legalization isn't going to be coming soon enough, i suggest we tell children all potential effects:
